Integration

Website

Connect website pages to GitBook Assisant for added context in user queries.

Overview

Connecting website records to GitBook surfaces content from webpages directly inside your docs site. Once connected, any pages you sync can power GitBook Assistant — so visitors get answers informed by real context — and optionally trigger change requests when patterns in your website point to documentation gaps.

How it works

GitBook syncs records from your selected website path. Those records can be exposed in AI Search and GitBook Assistant, letting your docs site answer questions using issue history alongside your written documentation. You can also enable auto-generate change requests to let GitBook analyze closed issues and propose documentation updates for your team to review.

Configure

  1. Connect Website records — Open your site's Settings → Connections, and select Website.

  2. Paste a website — Select which website path to sync. GitBook will start importing your website as a record.

  3. Configure connection settings — Choose how the records are used:

    • Expose in search / assistant — Makes website pages available to GitBook Assistant and AI Search. Note: this makes content accessible to anyone who can view your site.

    • Auto-generate change requests — Lets GitBook analyze pages and open suggested documentation updates for your team to review. (Currently in early access.)

  4. Adjust search ranking — Optionally boost or deprioritize website pages relative to your primary docs content.

“We can use our documentation for prospects, not just customers. Finding a certain page in Google is just way easier with GitBook.”
